The Stroke of Genius Podcast
The Brain Institute of America Podcast was invited to Stroke TV.
Aaron Avila is the CEO of Stroke TV Media, and is a survivor of a near-death experience caused by brain aneurysm and stroke. As a result of his brain injuries, he has become an advocate of the stroke survivor community. In September 2010, at the age of 47, Aaron experienced a near-death experience. A brain aneurysm ruptured in his head; two weeks later he suffered a massive stroke. For all the challenges Aaron has, he can’t walk unassisted (at least, not yet), he has dysarthria or unclear articulation of speech, he has balance issues, social filter loss, and a thousand other deficits. Aaron says he should have a big sign on his forehead: Under Major Reconstruction! But, for him, stroke has been amazing teacher.
He truly believes that he has been given a second chance at life on earth. A second chance to not to take his life and the ones he loves for granted! If it were not for the support his amazing wife Rebecca, his awesome son Ryan, and incredible family and friends, he’d be in a much different place! Tears of gratitude run down his face!
Aaron invited me to his podcast series to talk to me about the company, and RNA therapy. What I learned about Aaron during the show was truly amazing. AND he has some of the best fans out there. Aaron believes we are not victims; we are survivors! Aaron, never give up man! You may be able to direct another crew to build those water storage tanks you used to build.
All the best to you Aaron!

A Miracle Story Podcast
The Brain Institute of America Podcast by Dr. Brian Adams hosts Ms. Janet Burl.
Jan Burl is 58, physically challenged through stroke; her mind however, works miracles through its right hemisphere. She doesn’t ever consider “I can’t do that” as an answer. She has been an interim teacher, substitute teacher, tutor, and is an English Tutor and Researcher, as well as an associate editor for the BeZine. She attended College for Landscaping, Recreational Land Management, Animal Science, Agricultural Education, receiving degrees for all, and recently received her masters in Creative Writing and Poetry.
The above is what she is…but who she is… She is…a dreamer, a painter, a do-er, a peaceful old soul that always looks for the good in everyone, and finds out many stories. And she LOVES dragons, dragonflies, and loons (yes, they all fly, and see this world with a different perspective).
Life threw her a few curve balls; she never was good at land sports, so she turned to sailing and camping/hiking. Than the hemorrhagic stroke. Life didn’t end, though almost. Life changed. Old dreams and loves flew out the window and left a vacuum that needed to be filled. Her daughter helped her find her purpose, which is now a beginning to possibilities which are unending.
And, best of all, she writes children’s books under the pet name jsburl.
